Vendormate Launches "Grow a Badge" Tree Planting Program

May 2010 - Vendormate, the leading vendor information management solution, now plants five trees for every one used for paper for its visitor badge product. Vendormate's 850+ hospital customers nationwide print over 100,000 visitor badges each month. Vendormate has joined forces with American Forests, the nation's oldest non-profit citizens' conservation organization, to execute this off-set program.

"In many cases, the badges have time-sensitive information that can't be reflected in reusable badges. To offset the paper use, Vendormate is committed to planting 5 trees for every one tree used in badge printing," said John Harper, Vendormate's vice president of marketing. "A common estimate is that one tree produces about 8,333 sheets of paper, so we're kicking off our program with 600 trees for the first one million badges. We will continue to plant trees as we continue to grow.

Vendormate selected American Forests as the executor of the new program. American Forests' Global ReLeaf program plants trees throughout the US and abroad to help restore damaged forest ecosystems for wildlife habitat, clean water, carbon sequestration and other ecological benefits.
